Yesterday we went to the model Seder at Skylar's pre-school. Her class sang "Go Down, Moses" on stage. All the children were adorable. But when Kim laughed at the adorability of another class, Skylar chided her. "You shouldn't laugh at people, mom." We tried to explain that it wasn't the bad kind of laughing, but to no avail.
Most of the children and grown-ups alike did not eat the food on their plates. But I eagerly consumed my "mortar" and bitter herbs, as well as the egg whites left after Kim gave our yolks to Skylar.
It was a really nice event. It's important to feel solidarity, particularly when your world seems dangerously insubstantial. Ritual makes it a little easier.

That's my week in a JPEG: unleavened.
