Transubstantiation

George W. Bush is the worst President since Warren G. Harding. And his Administration's machinations on behalf of the petroleum industry have made the Teapot Dome scandal look like a tempest in a teapot. What really makes me physically ill, though, are the lengths his handlers will go in transforming his liabilities into his opponent's liabilities. We saw it with the brutal takedown of John McCain in 2000 and we're seeing it now with the Swift Boat armada. You have to give it to Karl Rove's Ministry of Propaganda, though. They make Jesus look like an amateur. That's why, as my mood darkens with each passing hour, I desperately need to read things like Nicholas Kristof's piece in today's New York Times. It's a shame that the call letters "WMIA" are already taken -- by A.M. 1070 in Puerto Rico, apparently -- because I'd love to see someone bring the noise about the Bush leaguers under that designation.
