Payback

Frank Lampard was the perfect choice to start the PKs. You always want to start with someone who is confident putting the ball in the net. All in all, though, despite my rooting interests, this was the preferred outcome from the standpoint of sportsmanship. Wayne Rooney richly deserved to be sent off and Cristiano Ronaldo richly deserved to seal the win after what happened to him against the Netherlands. Based on today's performance, though, it's very hard to imagine Portugal advancing to the final.

Beautiful

Until they started protecting their lead, the French played beautiful offensive football. The goal was perfection. And Zidane looked ten years younger. Wow!
