I'm in San Francisco for Joel's 40th birthday celebration, which takes place tomorrow. Tonight his longtime friend and collaborator Vance arrived. Together they constitute the only permanent members of the Elders of Zion, whose musical collages range the wild lands between agit-prop, ambient and dub.
The Elders' new album just became available on iTunes, as Joel details in the latest entry from his new blog -- I've added it to my sidebar on the right -- which promises to be interesting reading, since he has been freed from the burden of spending his best hours working at Tikkun. I'm delighted to be spending time with these two wonderful gentlemen this weekend and encourage you to sample their wares.
