Alright. So my personal and professional lives have been extremely stressful for some time. But there are positive developments nonetheless. I went to Urgent Care this evening because I've had a lingering sore throat, am flying across the country tomorrow and remember all too well what happened two winters ago when I let a sore throat linger, because I had no fever, and ended up with an abscess and two months of hell to go along with it. Whenever I go to the doctor, even if I think I'm being a hypochondriac, I end up testing positive for something or other. This time, though, was different. My throat is still sore, but I don't seem to have strep throat -- they're doing the more accurate culture just in case. Not only that, when the physician listened to my lungs, he said they sounded wonderful. I don't think that has ever happened to me before. Oh, and I also had the pleasure today of discovering, during this week's epic games of one-on-one basketball at the JCC, that the deep-breathing exercises and pushups I've been doing with increasing regularity have greatly improved my defense and rebounding. I'm so awash with healthy goodness that I can even read William S. Burroughs without feeling like I've contracted a sexually insatiable parasite. Go me!
