Let's see. I misplaced my keys yesterday morning and still haven't found them despite looking in every possible spot I could think of. I also forgot to take my nasal steroids and discovered, upon inhaling them at 6pm, that they are better left for the morning. I'm up now, but too jittery and tired to accomplish much of anything. On the other hand, the makeshift sauce I prepared with the shriveled tomatoes mentioned in the "poem" I posted here Sunday was delicious. I had some great conversations with students in office hours today. I read Skylar thirty pages of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince before her bedtime, coming, finally, to the crucial introduction of horcruxes. And I ate, with enormous pleasure, one of the Cadbury Creme eggs I had rodented away before Easter .

I was intermittently following tonight's Giants-Padres game. I figured San Francisco was due for a win -- I mean, they were 1-6 coming in -- and thus not surprised to see them go up 6-1. Heading into the ninth, the lead had shrunk to 6-3. Still, I was optimistic. But then Armando Benitez served up one of his patented home-run balls and it was suddenly 6-5. I prepared myself to feel very dark indeed. Luckily, though, he got the final out. All we need now are four more wins in a row and we'll have .500 winning percentage. Word!
