I ended up driving all the way from Tucson to San Diego, due to Kim's being majorly under the weather. She and Skylar watched movies on the portable DVD player in the back seat while I happily tuned in, first to my iPod Shuffle loaded up with songs from my favorite albums of the past two years and then to my Toshiba Gigabeat, for which I once again must thank [livejournal.com profile] danlmarmot profusely. It's still a novelty to me, being able to pick the music I listen to with ease. Sometimes I "overselect" -- I think I'll patent that word -- instead of staying with a decision for a while. Today, though, I picked Bruce Springsteen's Darkness on the Edge of Town and managed to scratch the precise place where my ears had been itching. I need to get a copy of that Sleater-Kinney cover from the last tour, BTW, in case any of you have it. You can meet me in the fields, behind the dynamo. . .
