Folds in Time

I've been having to think about recent history a lot over the past few weeks, specifically the first four years of the Bush Administration. But it feels like ancient history. Or maybe even the history of a different planet. The 1990s, by contrast, seem pretty close. I wonder if anyone else is experiencing this sort of temporal dislocation. Because if a good number of people are, it would bode well for Hillary Clinton's Presidential campaign. I'm not pulling for her to win the nomination, mind you -- I prefer Obama -- but can see how her ties to the time when world affairs were a little bit more hopeful and Americans were a little better liked abroad might come in handy if the election ends up turning on a fantasy of regression to a pre-9/11 state.
