Don't Care

I know Jacques Lacan more or less made this point. But I didn't believe him. Now, though, I'm starting to realize, finally, that trying to help people -- or "help" people, if you prefer -- is as likely to mess things up, both for you and for them, as simply ignoring them. There's something aggressive about so-called charity that needs to strike a blow, even if it's the self-inflicted sort. See? I told you I was thinking of becoming a Republican.
