I thought Sarah Palin did better than expected. Neither she nor Joe Biden were as clear in their deliveries as their running mates, at least from the standpoint of grammar and syntax. I suspect that the Vice Presidential debate will be regarded as a "win" for the Republican ticket because they didn't lose the ground that many of their own supporters feared they would lose. In the end, though, I think the fact that Joe Biden managed to project both respect and caring towards his opponent may negate that effect. By repeatedly tying McCain to Bush, without mentioning Palin, he accomplished what the Democrats wanted. Ultimately, the only loser in the debate was the moderator. I understand that she was in pain. But she could have done a far better job -- and, quite frankly, should have -- at making sure the candidates responded to the questions she posed. Not to mention that those questions were exceedingly vague at times and poorly articulated throughout.
