I guess so. Part of me wants to say that everyone looked like themselves, even "back then." But that's not always the case. It helps to have distinctive eyes, round cheeks, and deep-set eyes, since those characteristics tend not to change so much with time.

I think a better way of saying it is that the self you were back then looks like the self you are now.

Distinctive features do help, but sometimes changes in facial shape and expression can overwhelm them completely.

True enough. I don't feel radically different than that six-year-old on the inside, even though I'm a lot more troubled now than I was then.
