I've already been over this with my stathead friend Steven, who explained why my theory was wrong, but I still -- romantically, irrationally -- think the San Francisco Giants should bat Barry Bonds lead off. Most of his home runs are solo shots anyway. And he gets on base like no one else. If the Giants had outstanding OBP guys ahead of him in the lineup, things would be different. But, as things stand, all the other main Giants are pretty equally "adequate": it's basehits by committee.

See, I don't think Barry would see fewer pitches to hit batting leadoff. And he'd get on base more. Were Ray Durham 100%, I suppose Barry could bat second.

Well, that's my stupid thought for the morning.
