I survived the spectacle. It wasn't so bad from a ferry. The sight of an even more sanitized Times Square from the taxi disturbed me more.

Watching A&E this morning, seeing a commercial promoting the show Bounty Hunter, my mother made the following remark:

The thing about reality is that it's not.

Now that's a philosophically sound statement.
