As I was walking from the soon-to-close Fry's near our house to the car just now, I caught the distinct scent of grocery-store chicken wafting on the cool morning air. But it wasn't a disgusting experience, just a neutral one.
Skylar loves Star Wars. But she's sad that the Death Star has to get blown up. "I like the Death Star." Now it's on to Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, formerly known as the second film in the Star Wars trilogy.

I don't suppose it's particularly surprising that Susan Sontag has died at 71. Still, I'm always sad when a source of light dies. I feel about Sontag the way I feel about Jacques Derrida. I taught them. I recognized their importance. But I regard neither as one of "my" thinkers. I may have more to say later. For now, though, let me noted that I was surprised that Sontag spent some of her youth here in Tucson.
