I'm glad that my parents are visiting, but I still feel extremely agitated. Their visits are too short to ever settle into a laidback routine. And the fact that Kim and I are exiled to the futon on the front room poses a challenge, not least because I rely on my alone time after she goes to bed as a means of maintaining my sanity. I'm "alone" right now, of course, but the fact that she's sleeping in the front room and that Bean is now asleep on the sofa -- she makes her nightly migration around this time -- detracts from the sense of solitude I require. Maybe I'll go for a late-night run.
