It's almost time to get up and I haven't even gone to sleep. But that's par for the course. I can't remember the last time I got significant sleep before making a trip. And this time it's even harder than usual, because the London bombings have me thinking that D.C. is going to be a very annoying place in which to travel around. At the same time, though, I'm excited at the prospect of seeing Skylar's reaction to the sights. She was already excited about them during our last visit in December, 2003. Now, though, she's really ready to get a lot out of the trip. We'll see how it goes.

. . .except that maybe people are a bit quieter/less fractious than usual the last couple of days, and you'll occasionally see a Very Large Dog on the metro.

That's good to know. We're heading out to Largo this afternoon, so we'll find out. There are other potential traumas on that trajectory, obviously. But when your parents live in the Hood. . . :-)
