I love the way she dresses!

She had a fashion design unit at her summer art camp this week, which heightened her experimental urges. I love her Converse.

Man, she has grown so much!

[identity profile] cbertsch.livejournal.com 2006-07-31 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
I knew I had that old photo already uploaded, but I was taken aback when I looked at it again. I didn't remember her looking that small during her last months of pre-school. Man. And she has been hanging out with our new neighbor, who is twelve, and consorting with rough boys from the apartment complex next door. Someone press rewind. . .

Oh my... speedy! :-))

[identity profile] cbertsch.livejournal.com 2006-07-31 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. Kim couldn't keep up with her!

In other news, we went to see Miami Vice -- we're big fans of director Michael Mann's visual approach -- and I thought of you.

Oh did you? Jamie Foxx has a house on South Beach (somewhere) and, he's seen here a lot. I haven't seen any clips of the movie but, I have seen some video stills. Miami Vice the TV show, although I watched it some, was just too phony for me. However, Miami in the 80s was so full of drugs you could almost smell it on the streets. We could spend several full nights up until sunrise with just my experiences (and people I knew). I was actually selling weed for about a year in 1983. Most of that time it was my only income but, I was not a user of my own product. ;-)

Yeah, the show was phony in lots of ways. The movie isn't true-to-life either. But I love Mann's style from a cinematographic standpoint. He makes everything so abstract. I bet Miami was something back then. I bet it's something now. It was odd seeing Jamie Foxx in that role. I liked the film, though.

I love your photographs but these two are just the best. Thanks!

Thanks so much. I've really been enjoying your memoirish entries. You do such a great job of conjuring the past in a way that makes it palpable. I'm glad your heat wave is over.

Thank you and thanks for the sympathy - especially considering your locale :)

I found that getting used to 100 degrees wasn't that hard. But anything over 105 remains overwhelming. My theory is that the body can deal with conditions approximating normal fever better than ones that would be very severe if a fever were that high.

Great comparison shots. You prolly already know that Bean's bike saddle needs a raise. Leg extended just before full knee- ock or close to it according to her comfort preference. She'd have lots more leg leverage and as my Deb is fond of saying "Leverage is a Girl's Best Friend!"

Here's a girl who'd make good use of leverage...8^)

Thanks. She's a little timid still. It took some convincing to get her to consent to raising it that high. We'll see if we can't push for another increase.

Haha! Awesome. I love the thoughtful way you guys document The Bean's growth and progress. She steamrolling toward adolescence man, good luck.

I know. At this rate she'll be. . . Ah, better not to think about it. As long as she knows she's loved, right?

[identity profile] yourbestfiend.livejournal.com 2006-07-31 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
man, she looks like a badass in that picture.

[identity profile] cbertsch.livejournal.com 2006-07-31 04:18 pm (UTC)(link)
But a still-innocent badass, thankfully. . .

I'm glad you used that icon. I missed seeing it.
