Boise looks like an amalgam -- to me anyway -- of the windswept ,grassy hills inland from the central coast and the tree-lined watercourses that you see driving laterally, on an east-west axis, through a county like Marin or Sonoma. There are sagebrushy patches, too, which sometimes make it look more like the above-the-frost-line high desert of eastern Washington or northern Nevada, in other words, what it actually is. But I must be homesick for California, because that's what I keep seeing.
There is a beautiful river area right in the middle of town, more "natural" looking than any river I've seen in a city this size. And there is apparently a pretty excellent movie theater, Flicks, a lot like The Loft.
