Is that king snake a regular at your house? Do you feed it? It's a beauty.
My cousin Johnny and I used to have a Boa. When we got it it was about 20 inches long. We named it Bay Bridge. We made an arena for it out of leaded glass which we would use during feeding. We went up to the museum above the Castro and bought lab rats to feed it. My cousin drove back to Indiana with Bay. It got pretty big - like about 6 feet. Johnny started to care for his mother at her house as she was getting chemo therapy. Bay got lost in his mother's house for a few months. One day Bay was sitting out in the hallway and freaked out Johnny's sister Peggy. She was pregnant at the time and called the neighbor who quickly came over and shot Bay Bridge with a pistol: Indiana gun nut freak - he probably wore a hood, but I don't know that for sure. Probably some loathing of San Francisco fueled his heroism too. Well, that was that.
Watch out for those 3 escaped murderers I have been reading about. They escaped from AZ, but were probably from IN.
This is actually the king snake that Kim once had to extract from our laundry room. He has subsequently been seen in the front yard on several occasions, but never in the back, hence the subject of this entry. He's now three feet or so, so he must be getting enough lizards, birds and pack rats to keep him happy.
Wow, I was just this evening talking about the differences between the Florida black banded water snake and the water moccasin, two very different black snakes. That king looks healthy.
